Welcome to my blog! To begin, let me demonstrate the variety you may find reading my posts. A sampling of my recent thoughts and findings:
Did you know that having hypertension actually increases your basal metabolic rate? That doesn’t seem to help anyone though, because most people with hypertension are overweight. I wonder if getting rid of high blood pressure makes it harder to lose weight… Well, if someone lowers their blood pressure through diet and exercise, and ends up losing weight, they may have a higher metabolism from increasing their lean body mass anyway. But if someone lowers blood pressure through medications, maybe there would be weight gain? Has anyone had that experience?
Morning sickness came back. Again. I thought I was out and free, but this week it came back with a vengeance. I’m 11 weeks now though, so supposedly the end is in sight! I have been reading a book recommended to me by a friend: “When You’re Expecting Twins, Triplets and Quads: Proven Guidelines for a Healthy Multiple Pregnancy”. It’s not hockey, all evidenced-based material written by an OB/GYN, RD who has 40 years experience with multiple pregnancies. Anyway, I’d recommend it! The only thing I may or may not have a problem with is the recommendation to gain 20-30 pounds by week 20. The explanation makes sense for why early weight gain is important, but how on earth do I gain that much weight? I’m trying guys. Aaron brings me candy bars home from work sometimes. :)
We live with Andy and Paula. Paula has the best laugh, and Andy loves cows. We eat dinners together and I decided I’ll call them my adopted parents.
Aaron started working at Mars Chocolate and loves it so far. He seriously can eat all the candy he wants. I’m just a tad worried he might kill himself, but he actually said he likes snacking on the carrots I packed in his lunch and he kind of avoids the candy machine. I am studying for the big, scary exam to (finally) be a Registered Dietitian! It’s scheduled, I paid for it, so I am motivated. I’m kind of enjoying myself though, I get to review everything I ever learned in my undergrad program! (*cough* nerd)
I’ll blog about our travel adventures next time. (Niagara Falls was the coolest!)
